Fines for Covid-19 breaches

New Regulations that came into force in England on 27th September are so important we thought we should set these out for you below.
Employers in England that knowingly allow or force staff to come to work when they should be self-isolating can be fined up to £10,000.

It is now an offence for an employer to knowingly permit a worker (including an agency worker) to attend any place other than where the individual is self-isolating - after testing positive for coronavirus, if they live with someone who has tested positive or if they have been told to self-isolate by the NHS Track and Trace system.    In addition, under the rules, individuals are now required by law to tell their employer if they’ve tested positive or been asked to self-isolate by the official track and trace service.

Remember if home working is an option this is permissible.

Our advice is you should ensure your COVID-19 procedures are robust and reflect these requirements and remind all your team of their obligation to notify them if they are self-isolating.
