Time to spring clean your contracts of employment

A revolutionary legal finding by the Employment Appeals Tribunal (EAT) states that three hotel employees were entitled to a statement of their employment conditions within their first month of work.  The ruling, if upheld, could alter the existing understanding of how soon employees should receive formal notification of their rights, which stands at two months.This could have an impact on employers in industries such as hospitality or retail with relatively high staff turnover. 

What this means in practice is employers will need to be on the ball and aim to get written statements to staff as soon as possible, if they were not already doing so.
